After looking at a few films, I have a good understanding of how characters are introduced. Characters can be established in a variety of ways, including:

1. voice-over narration - which provides insight into their thoughts and personality






2. their actions - which reveal traits and motivations








3. Camera work - such as framing and focus (can highlight the importance of a character)





4. music - can set the tone and mood for their introduction





5. Body language - conveys emotions and attitudes

6. Establishing shots - can place the character within their environment, helping the audience understand their role and context
